In other words, each web page or document often include Meta Information (Metadata) in the form of meta tags. Description and keywords meta tags are commonly used to describe the Web page’s content. Most search engines including Google and Bing use these data when adding pages to their search index.
To keep it simple, Webmasters use meta tags to introduce search engines about a page. The meta information in a page should describe the content and purpose of that page by giving a title, description and keywords. This information helps the search engines categorize and index the page in better way. Some search engines use meta keywords and meta descriptions, while others ignore them, because each Search Engine has it own policy for indexing.
